Matthew Cameron (natural November 28, 1962) is an American musician renowned for swimming drums in the hard rock band Soundgarden from 1986 until the band's 1997 break-up. He nowadays plays fulltime using Pearl Jam.

Cameron was natural inside San Diego, California and began playing drums at an early age. At the age of Thirteen, he & a bit of friends played around a handle band known as "Kiss" (sustaining a word imitation written underneath a title, inside small print). When you took this stint, he met Paul Stanley. Yet when a letter from either the management of the band KISS threatened a children using legal action whenever it did non prevent their infringement, the band melted away.

Inside 1978, under the anonym "Foo Cameron", Cameron sang a song "Puberty Love" which was featured in the pic "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." In the early 1980s he moved to Seattle & played within local elastic rather Feedback and Skin Yard. By September of 1986, when he joined Soundgarden, Cameron experienced gained such ill fame in the local music scene that he was immediately chosen to play for Soundgarden.

Despite the career inside rock, Cameron stated within the 1989 radio interview that growing higher he "wasn't a big rock fan..." & that his musical tastes when you took his youth were "more into jazz." He played in the jazz-influenced side task known as "Tone Dogs" in the early '90s. Cameron besides has the fondness for psychedelic garage rock, and his side design Wellwater Conspiracy reflects this.

He has as well played in albums like a Smashing Pumpkins' Adore and Geddy Lee's 2000 solo album My Favorite Headache. He besides features in Chris Cornell“s solo album Euphoria Morning on the track Disappearing One
